Elevated IgE
Ø Type I allergic diseases, such as idiopathic asthma, idiopathic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, etc., IgE is often elevated.
Ø Non-allergic diseases, such as IgE myeloma, parasitic infection, etc. IgE is elevated.
Ø IgE can be elevated in diseases such as acute or chronic hepatitis, SLE, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Decreased IgE
ØSee in primary agammaglobulinemia, tumors and chemotherapy drugs, ataxia-telangiectasia, etc.
