PRODUCT NAME:
Total Prostate Specific Antigen Determination Kit
(Fluorescence Immunochromatographic Assay)
Abbreviation: tPSA
INTENDED USE:
Total Prostate Specific Antigen Determination Kit is an in vitro diagnostic test
for the quantitative detection of tPSA in human serum, plasma and whole
blood specimens.
Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is secreted by prostate epithelial cells. It is a
protein of the kininase family and exists in prostate tissue and semen. The PSA
content in normal human serum is minimal. PSA mainly exists in three forms
in serum: ①free prostate specific antigen (fPSA), which accounts for 10%-
30% of the total prostate specific antigen (tPSA);②complex formed by the
combination of prostate specific antigen and α1-antichymotrypsin (PSA-ACT);
③the complex formed by the combination of prostate specific antigen and α2-
macroglobulin (PSA-α2M). The latter two forms are collectively referred to as
binding prostate specific antigen. The main physiological function of PSA is
to prevent semen from coagulating. It has extremely high tissue and organ
specificity and is currently the preferred marker for the diagnosis of prostate
cancer.
