“Thyroid” is an integral part of the human body.
With the increasing pressure in people’s work and life, thyroid diseases are increasing day by day and even develop into thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer is the fastest growing common tumor in the world, but it is also the most curable “cancer”! The premise is early detection and early treatment.
Thyroid Hormone Function
01
Improve the body’s metabolic level, increase glucose and lipid metabolism, and increase heat production.
02
Promote growth and development. Insufficient thyroid hormone secretion can lead to mental retardation and short stature, which is clinically called cretinism.
03
Improve the excitability of the nervous system, so patients with hyperthyroidism often manifest as agitation, insomnia, tachycardia and hyperhidrosis.
Thyroid-Related Diseases
Hyperthyroidism
Hyperthyroidism is a group of clinical syndromes caused by the excessive secretion of thyroid hormone by the thyroid gland, which causes the vigorous metabolic function of various tissues and organs in the body, such as heat intolerance, hyperhidrosis, irritability, easy temper tantrum, rapid heartbeat, easy hunger, diarrhea, and gradual weight loss, etc., and at the same time makes it feel like that the neck is swollen or even enlarged.
There are many reasons for hyperthyroidism, the most common being immune dysfunction, about 85% of patients with hyperthyroidism belong to this type of disease, especially adult women who are emotionally unstable are more prone to this disease.
Hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism is due to insufficient secretion of thyroid hormones, causing hypometabolic syndrome in various tissues and organs of the body, such as cold intolerance, fatigue, lack of energy to work, heavy swelling of hands and feet, sleepiness, memory loss, constipation, etc.
Patients with milder conditions may not be particularly noticed in the early stage and it is difficult to be found.
There are two groups of people who should be specially reminded, one is those who have undergone thyroidectomy, the other is patients with hyperthyroidism treated with radioactive isotope iodine.
Thyroid inflammation
Thyroid inflammation mainly includes acute thyroiditis, subacute thyroiditis and chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, also known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
1. Subacute thyroiditis
Subacute thyroiditis often occurs after a cold, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis. If you feel neck swelling, pain, tenderness, or neck pain when you swallow, move your head and neck, or accompanied by fever and other symptoms, especially there was a condition similar to a cold not long ago, it is necessary to see a doctor in time to rule out the disease.
2. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
Clinically, the main manifestation is the enlargement of the thyroid gland, and the two antibody indicators of the thyroid gland can be significantly increased in the blood test.
4. Thyroid nodules
A common disease that occurs more frequently in women. Most of the thyroid nodules are benign, while the probability of malignancy is only 5% to 10%.
If the color Doppler ultrasound suspects that the thyroid nodule is malignant, further “pathological diagnosis of thyroid fine needle aspiration” can be performed to more accurately determine its nature.
5. Thyroid cancer
This is one of the most common tumors of the endocrine system. Most patients often go to the hospital for treatment because of an obvious neck mass, and some patients go to see a doctor because of local discomfort in the front of the neck, such as foreign body sensation, pressure, or abnormal pronunciation, or swallowing and breathing disorders, etc.
